No keyword search? why?

:
This app desperatly needs "keyword" search feature. If you want to see all the gulls for instance you can't simply search for "gull" and have all the gulls show up, which would make common sence for an app like this. Not having that feature is such a tremendous drawback that it makes the app nearly useless for the simple fact that it makes it so tedious and time consuming to use that it just annoying and you may as well carry a book. I hope they fix this soon.

Nice App - Great Content

:
I use the National Geographic birding field guides and really like what they have done with the latest version of the app. It's the same great book content with added search capability (including keyword and bird characteristics) to make it a very useful birding utility.

Great App!

:
Unlike others, I have found the search features to be extremely helpful. It helped me narrow down to a short list of birds for a friend until he was able to identify the bird by it's song. Two features would really enhance am already awesome and first rate app - 1. Side by side pictures of two birds for helping identify a bird in the field, and 2. A checklist, ideally to include date and location birds were seen, maybe even a life list and year lists. Otherwise, this is a 5 star app!

Additionally, the search will find, for example, all the gulls. If you type in the word gull, it instantly tells you your search matched 27 birds. If you the press the "Birds" button it will take you to where you can scroll through all 27 gulls. You can also add things like color, size and range in the search to narrow the number down even more. Hope this helps!
